Time has been flying by a little too quickly; Which makes it no surprise that New Year’s Eve 2021 showed up in the blink of an eye. Lucky for me, this one was extra special as our friends, Taylor and Liz, tied the knot before we counted down to midnight!

As luck would have it, after having 30-50° weather leading up to New Year’s, the day of dropped down to a temp of just 19°, with a blizzard heading through the midwest that night!! I guess when they say “love conquers all” that is in no way a lie; Despite the distasteful weather, Liz, Taylor, and everyone who loves them, gathered for a magical and unforgettable New Year’s Eve wedding.

I love starting off a wedding day with as many details shots as our timeline allows. They give all the seemingly forgettable items a moment of their own, leaving no memory left behind when couples want to relive their day through photos. Liz and her girls got ready in a beautiful bed and breakfast near the church, which allowed us time for candids, details and those beautiful getting ready shots of the bride and groom. After getting ready, Liz was able to share a special moment with not only her husband-to-be, but also her father. Those “I’ve been dying to see you” smiles certainly say it all!

The couple was married in a gorgeous Catholic church surrounded by their family and friends. However, one smiling face wasn’t able to join them, so afterwards we headed off to give Taylor’s grandfather a little surprise! After giving his well wishes to his grandson, and a quick dance with the bride, we hopped place to place to capture a few ”just married” portraits, as the weather front started settling in. I have to give this bridal party all the props in the world; They were total troopers and allowed me to try and get as many shots as possible before the cold became unbearable!

We ended the evening at the Holthus event center in York. The centerpieces were drenched in glowing candles, white florals and lush greenery. (All my total favs!) Along with all the reception must haves, there was one special request from the bride……a recreation photo of her grandfathers from years before at her parents wedding in 1983. (Original photo artist unknown.)

The newlyweds danced the night away and counted down to midnight. After all, there is no better way to start the new year than by being in love! ❤️
