Pet Portraits are a private no-rush shoot that will focus only on your pet, or may include up to 2 human subjects, to allow your furry friend to stay on task, relax and be themselves. Capturing them in their best light at any stage of life!
Upon booking your pet's session a brief questionnaire will be provided to begin planning your session. We'll select the best potential locations for photography, that also accommodate your pet's comfort and personality. We'll discuss unique characteristics, favorite activities and the personality of your pet.
Lastly, clients will be provided a prep list of how to prepare their pet before the session, what to bring and what to expect!
-
As part of your statement experience, clients should expect that all images will be finished with my signature post production style.
My portraits take on a highly contrasted, color-rich, timeless look; With bright highlights, dark blacks and colors that pop in all the right places. You’ll find I put my whole heart into carefully balancing light and color to making your best features shine. To some my portraits may even look a bit dream-like!
Your session will be balanced between naturally posed settings, gently cued candid images, and action shots.

WHAT PETS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH?
At this time our canine and feline friends are the main focus of my pet portrait services. However, clients are welcome to inquire about other pets. Each unique animal will be considered on a case-by-case basis.ARE PETS ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO?
At this time all pet portraits will take place outdoors.CAN I DO PET PORTRAITS WITH A PET THAT MUST BE LEASHED?
Absolutely! While I can't guarantee 100% perfection through your entire session, most of the time we're able to use camera angles, props, and other various techniques to disguise or hide leashes. Some locations may also require leashes be in use.If your pet typically wears a harness these can not be removed in editing. While we know harnesses are top notch for safety, whenever possible, using a collar for your session is more ideal.
DOES MY PET HAVE TO BE TRAINED?
Basic training is highly encouraged for our best shot at a smooth running session, but it is not required. (ie. Sit, stay, lay down.) Most animals will eventually do these actions naturally. It may take longer for untrained pets to get these types of shots, or your images may be more candid. For untrained pets, pet parents are kindly asked to stay realistic as to what types of images may be achieved.CAN I TAKE PART IN MY PET’S PORTRAITS?
Pet sessions will focus primarily on your furry friend. A max of 2 people (adults preferred) may participate in Pet Portraits. For family portraits including your furry friend, please see Family Portraits.WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN A "PET PORTRAIT" VS. "A FAMILY SESSION WITH A PET?"
Pet Portraits are sessions where your pet is the main star of the show, and only up to 2 human subjects are included. Family sessions including your pet will focus more on the human aspect, making your pet a supporting role that may pop in and out of your portraits.WILL YOU TRAVEL TO ME?
For an added fee, clients may choose to shoot at their home, or a location outside of the artist’s local service area. This is best for senior pets who struggle getting around, or pets who get anxious when away from home. Please plan to discuss your location with the artist prior to your session to ensure it will accommodate all session needs for lighting and environmental requirements. Last minute changes to locations outside of the artist's service area may not be accommodated.
HONORING
DARLA
In 2022 we added a sweet Bernese Mountain Dog, Darla, to our pack. We watched her joyful spirit grow and sink in to our hearts month after month. She helped us welcome our first baby home, and would sit patiently by me as we battled through his early colicky days. (My furry emotional support hero!) I don’t honestly know how I would have made it without her.
Her loving personality brought us so much joy, and her gentle playfulness filled our son with giggles. But with one seemingly small accident, our sweet girl had an intestinal surgery that she would not recover from; We lost her on Thanksgiving 2023.
Our time with her was priceless and unforgettable. In just a short period we made so many memories with her, but her loss was also a harsh reminder that life is short and our fur-kids can have a deep hold on our hearts. It sadly wasn’t until after her passing that I wished I had captured her in a professional light…And so, here we are, attempting to help others avoid the same mistake.
